I’ve seen this happen every year — students who’ve studied hard for GS Paper I, who know the Constitution inside-out, who can debate the economy for hours… but then they lose out at the last step because of CSAT. And not because it’s difficult — but because they underestimated it.

Let’s be clear. CSAT may be qualifying, but it can knock you out cold if you don’t respect it. The cutoff is just 33%, but when the questions are twisted, when pressure builds, and when your mind blanks in those comprehension passages or basic math problems — that 33% starts feeling a lot bigger.
